Dental Crowns Near You
Dental crowns are tooth-coloured, tooth-shaped “caps” that fit over a tooth that has been damaged, broken, or decayed. Our dentists use crowns for a variety of reasons, including as a cosmetic treatment, to restore and restrengthen a tooth, or to completely replace a tooth in the case of dental implants. Crowns are an attractive and sturdy option for restoring teeth.
How Long Does It Take to Get a Crown?
Dental crowns are custom-fitted dental restorations that require several visits from start to finish. The first step is typically a restorative or general procedure, such as a root canal or tooth extraction. Next, an impression needs to be made of the location where the crown will fit. After the impression is made, it is then sent to the dental laboratory, where they make the custom-fitted crown. Most patients will have the natural tooth prepped and receive a temporary crown while the permanent restoration is being manufactured. This process can take two or more weeks. Once the crown is ready, another appointment will be booked so that our dental team can fit and secure the permanent crown.
